WATERVILLE, Maine – Husson women's cross country saw their top-five scoring runners finish in the top 50 out of over 150 competitors attending the Maine State Championship on Saturday. The Eagles snatched 6th overall as a team with a cumulative 189 points and an average time of 22:55 in the 5K.
Taking the clear lead once again, first-year Payton Goodwin ran a 21:41.1 time in the 5K to achieve 29th place and set the tone for the Eagles. After leading the convocation of Eagles the past two years at the Maine State Championship, senior Lindsey Joliat raced in one stride ahead of teammate Norah Garvey for the second and third best times of the day for Husson with 22:35.1 and 22:36.6 marks for 35th and 36th.
Husson saw their third first-year runner achieve a scoring spot at the Maine State Championship, as Destiny Anair sprinted across the finish line in 43rd place with 23:37.1 on the clock. Junior Julia Glisson rounded out scoring for Husson with a 46th-place time of 24:09.5.
The Eagles have one last meet scheduled before the North Atlantic Conference Championship in November. The Husson women's cross country team will travel to Thomas College in nearly three weeks on Friday, October 25th to compete in the Thomas Invitational.
