Women's Cross Country Takes First at Home Invitational

BANGOR, Maine – The Eagles hosted their one home meet of the season on Saturday, welcoming two teams and some unattached players to compete in the 5K at Saxl Park. Despite being a drizzling overcast day for a run in the park, the Husson women had something to celebrate as they took first place with five runners achieving top-ten times for a team score of 32 points.

Once again striding out ahead of nearly all other competitors, rookie Payton Goodwin captured second place with her time of 20:42.0 as she raced on Husson's home course competitively for the first time. Following her with another top-five time, Lindsey Joliat hit the 21:30.0 mark for a fourth-place time.

Finishing within 20 seconds of each other, underclassmen Isabelle Jackson (21:57.8), Rosie Train (22:05.8), and Norah Garvey (22:15.9) crossed in early on grabbing 7th, 9th, and 10th.

The women's cross country squad heads southbound to compete in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational next Saturday, September 21st.
