BIDDEFORD, Maine - Husson University women's volleyball (4-19) was swept up by the Nor'easter tonight, dropping a 3-0 match to the University of New England (14-2) at the Harold Alfond Forum. The Eagles did not make the contest an easy one, staying close to the Nor'easters consistently throughout all three sets.
University of New England 3, Husson University 0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-18)
Husson recorded a total of 29 kills with senior captain Mary Grace Power supplying nine of those, to become the fourth player in program history to surpass 600 career kills and join the exclusive club. Teammates Cheyenne Young and Sophia Pagliarini, also contributed five apiece to the team's total. Fellow captain Hanna Hembrow set up an impressive 19 of the total 29 assists for the Eagles. Defensively, libero Adrienne Beatty added 13 of 48 team digs. Power and Amber Lemay were also key on the defensive push, chipping in 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
Leading offensive players for UNE were Stephanie Erickson and Sydney Christiansen. Erickson recorded a helpful 12 kills for the Nor'easters, and Christiansen added a whopping 30 out of a total of 36 team assists for UNE. The defensive push was led by Molly Camelo and Christiansen and as they each carved 10 digs on the court. Adding to that, senior outside hitter, Katie Flynn, contributed nine digs out of her team's total of 47 digs.
The Eagles will be traveling to Delhi, N.Y. for a long Saturday of conference action against SUNY Delhi and SUNY Canton on October 19th at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
