BANGOR, Maine - The Husson volleyball team returned home from a five-game road trip, for a midweek showdown with the Rams of Unity College and were victorious as the Eagles strolled away with a 3-0 sweep.
With the win, the Eagles improved to 4-12 on the season while the Rams fall to 2-4 with the setback.
Husson 3, Unity 0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-12)
Husson finished each set with a positive attack percentage and was clean offensively with only minimal errors throughout the three sets. The Eagles racked up 30 kills as a team while the Rams had 10.
The Eagles were led by the seniors as Hanna Hembrow set up her teammates with 26 assists and smashed down five service aces and fellow classmate Mary Grace Power notched a team-high eight kills. Sophomore Adrienne Beatty registered a team-high nine digs for her side in the victory. Sophomore Serena Laro was on fire on the attack, recording a kill in five of 10 attempts.
Zayra Ontiveros led the charge for the Rams as she ended the night with six kills while Sarah Lewis had 12 digs and Marissa Sweeney chipped in 10 digs on the back line. Sweeney also helped out defensively jumping up for three solo blocks.
Husson volleyball heads back on the road as they travel to Plymouth, N.H. on Saturday, September 28th. The Eagles will take on UMass Dartmouth at 2 p.m. before facing the host, Plymouth State University, at 4 p.m.
