BANGOR, Maine – Husson women's volleyball (1-9) dropped all three sets to Maine Maritime Academy (10-5) in Newman Gym on Wednesday evening.
Maine Maritime 3 – Husson 1 (25-13, 25-12, 25-13)
After matching point for point to open up the first set, Husson began slowly falling behind to Maine Maritime as Rachel Melampy rocked the court with her 11 kills and seven digs. Close behind her, teammate Alexa Cacacie smacked down nine kills and achieved three aces while hitting .692. Also behind the end line, Jessica D'Auria had a game-high of four aces. Making immense contributions to the win, Sydney Adams put up 25 assists and Maria Perez dug 13 balls.
The entire Eagles bench stepped foot onto the court on Wednesday night with Sophia Pagliarini leading the attack with three kills. Hanna Hembrow was the lone Eagle to set up her teammates with assists, tallying a total of ten by the end of the night while Riley Mooers smashed down only service ace for Husson. Defensively, Adrienne Beatty scooped up seven digs and Delaney Chisholm grabbed five for the Eagles.
Husson volleyball will have a long day on Saturday, September 29th as they travel to Saint Joseph's (Maine) for a match at 12 p.m. against Emmanuel (Mass.) and a match at 2 p.m. taking on the Monks.
