BANGOR, Maine - Husson University volleyball swept their first match of the season, 3-0, defeating University of Maine-Machias on their home court Tuesday night.

The Eagles jumped ahead in the first set, maintaining a comfortable advantage, but the Clippers picked up the pressure in the second set, nearly neck-and-neck until the end.
Freshman Adrienne Beatty once again proved her defensive skills on the court, grabbing 25 digs for Husson, while junior Hanna Hembrow was on her game offensively. Hembrow smashed five kills, set up 19 assists, and scooped up 13 digs. Juniors Delaney Chisholm and Katelyn McKenzie, and senior Kate Woods all contributed nine digs apiece. Freshman Serena Laro came down with five kills while sophomore Kayli Doten jumped up for a pair of blocks.
On the opposite side of the court, freshman Shawna Monk led her team in kills with five while racking up 12 digs. Freshman Alexis Prescott and junior Kalyn Otto sent over a pair of kills while each hit double digits in digs. Otto also dished out five assists alongside freshman Reese Thompson's four assists.
The Eagles will play a pair of matches at Keene State on Saturday, September 15th with start times set for 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
