BANGOR, Maine - The Husson women's volleyball team defeated The University of Maine-Machias, 3-0 (25-13, 25-7, 25-20), in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday evening in Machias, Maine, at the Reynolds Center.
The Eagles improve to 12-9 (2-0 NAC) while the Clippers drop to 5-11.
Husson started out strong winning the first set with a score of 25-13. The Eagles continued to press the issue in the second set with a 25-7 victory. Maine-Machias kept fighting, keeping the score close in the third and final set, but Husson was able to pull ahead and win 25-20.
Senior Bailey Cote helped the Eagles soar to their 12th win, recording nine kills on 16 total attacks for an impressive 56.2% kill percentage. In the process, Cote recorded her 500th career kill becoming the ninth player in program history to reach that milestone. The same night she recorded kill number 500, Cote appeared in her 100th career match.
Nia Arranage starred in the win with five kills, three serving aces, and three solo blocks, while Hanna Hembrow tallied 16 assists and six serving aces. Melanie Rielly contributed 14 digs, and Kaitlyn Woods finished the night with nine kills.
The Eagles outpaced the Clippers in kills (32-11), assists (28-8), and serving aces (16-2).
Husson returns to the court on Saturday, October 14, at Maine Maritime Academy for two conference match-ups. The Eagles will play Castleton at 12:00 p.m. and Green Mountain at 2:00 p.m.
