BANGOR, Maine - The Husson women's volleyball team defeated Unity College, 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-12), in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday evening in Newman Gymnasium.
The Eagles improve to 9-8 (0-0 conf.) while the Rams drop to 4-6 (3-2 conf.).
Husson started out strong winning the first set with a score of 25-9. Unity kept fighting, keeping the score close in the second set but the Eagles were able to pull ahead and win the next two sets, 25-17 and 25-12.
Senior Nia Arranaga helped the Eagles soar to their ninth win of the season, recording nine kills, 8 serving aces and three blocking solos.
Kaitlyn Woods starred in the win with eight kills and two digs while Mary Grace Power tallied six kills, one serving ace and three digs. Lindsay Chapman contributed in the win with five kills, one assist and six digs. Defensively, Hanna Hembrow dominated with 15 assists of the team's total 24. Hembrow also tallied four digs.
The Eagles outpaced the Rams in kills (25-9), assists (24-8) and serving aces (15-7).
Husson returns to the court on Saturday, September 30 at Johnson State for two conference matchups. The Eagles will play Johnson at 10:00 a.m. and Lyndon State (Vt.) at 2:00 p.m.
