Two More Women's T&F Student-Athletes Qualify for New England DIII Championship at SNHU

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Competing against over 35 other teams, the Husson women's outdoor track & field squad shared a four-way tie for 17th with six Eagles scoring for a total of 10 points as a team. Two more Eagles will be traveling to the New England Division III Championship after their performances at the 2nd Annual Penman Relays on Saturday. 

Both Leah Desjardins and Maddie Wing qualified for the New England DIII Championship in different events. Desjardins broke the school record in the 100-meter dash in 12.73 seconds for seventh place out 96 participants in the event while Wing took eighth in javelin competing against 59 competitors, after a 35.51-meter throw, good enough for third in school history. 

Recording the best score of the day, Maddie Page grabbed fourth in pole vault as she cleared 2.9 meters to tie the school record and set a new personal best. 

On the track, Julia Glisson and Izzy Jackson both passed the program record for the mile while Shea Curley, Arianna McKinnon, Shie Smith, and Desjardins all contributed to a fourth-best time in HU history in the 4x100-meter relay. The four Eagles ran the relay in 51.96 seconds for seventh place. 

The Eagles compete at the Thomas (Maine) Small School Invitational all day Sunday, April 14th.
