Eagles Display Strong Performances at Regis "Under the Lights" Invitational

WESTON, Mass. – The Eagles displayed a standout performance down at Regis College on Friday night at the Regis "Under the Lights" Invitational.  It was a non-scoring meet; however, this was the first meet of the 2017 season which Husson sent full squads for both men and women to compete. The women's outdoor track team placed in the top six in 12 different events.

In the field, Erin Ellison and Faith Burnett were on fire each placing in two events. Ellison walked away with third place in shot put tossing 10.9 meters while Burnett trailed 10.57 meters for fifth place. In the women's hammer event, Ellison dominated for a first place win with her 46.73 meter throw. Then Burnett consistently captured fifth once again, but over in discus after sending it 29.6 meters through the air.

In the jumping events, Kerianne Downing took first clearing 1.47 meters in the high jump while teammates, Kelly Kashian was close behind with third at 1.42 meters and Lisa Pawlowski cleared the bar just .01 meters lower for fourth. As for long jump, Leah Desjardins tied for fourth jumping 4.36 meters and Tamara Rodriguez took sixth with 4.28 meters.

Pole vault saw four top six finishers for the Eagles, Jaclyn MacDonald second (2.75m), Jessica Dessert third (2.6m), Brianna Fortin fourth (2.4m), Paige Rainford fifth, (2.0m).

Sprinting to superb finishes in the shorter distance events; Desjardins picked up first in the 100-meter dash (12.88) and Arianna McKinnon saw sixth (13.69), in the 200-meter dash Desjardins captured second (27.36) and Brooke Hoople took fourth (27.52), Hoople then took second in the 400-meter dash (1:00:21) and Adreona Daniels came in sixth (1:05:47), Madison Cole closed out the dashes with the 800-meter claiming fourth (2:47:47).

Picking up fifth place in the 400-meter hurdles was Rainford coming in at 1:17:16.

The only Eagle to place in long distance, Morgan Clifford ran the 1500 meter in 5:47:38 minutes to pick up fifth place.

The Husson women will pick back up again next weekend, Saturday, April 15th in a meet at Bowdoin College starting at 11am.
