GORHAM, Maine – Competing at the University of Southern Maine for their second time this season, the Husson women saw six different Eagles score points to accumulate 16 total throughout the day for ninth place overall. Two relay teams also added on to the scoring for the Eagles at the Costello Sports Complex.
The Eagles scored all of their points on the track as Julia Glisson led the way with sixth place in the 600-meter run (2:04.12). Her teammate Emily Austin trotted in just three seconds after Glisson for seventh place (2:07.03). Adding on three more seventh place times were Leah Desjardins with a 7.70 mark in the 55-meter dash, Sarah Kohl hit 3:33.03 in the 1000-meter run, and Payton Goodwin with a new personal record time of 1:05.56 in the 400-meter dash. Barely a stride behind her, Willow Whitten crossed in two seconds faster than her previous best to achieve a time of 1:05.72 (8th).
Two relay teams put points on the board for the Eagles with the 4x800-meter relay team (11:18.39) made up of Glisson, Goodwin, and Norah Garvey grabbed sixth. Taking eighth as a squad were Whitten, Mia Hanning, Emily Banks, and Allison Kondracki finishing in 4:36.35 in the 4x400-meter relay.
In the field, Goodwin was the lone female student-athlete in Green and Gold to grab a top-ten mark with her 4.83-meter leap in the long jump for ninth. She added .2 meters to set her second personal best of the day at USM.
The Eagles have one more meet to attempt qualifying marks for the NCAA Division III New England Championship. The Husson women will compete at the University of Maine on Saturday, February 8th.
