BANGOR, Maine – The Husson women's indoor track & field program are set to send four student-athletes to represent the Eagles at the New England Division III Championship this weekend at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. The meet will commence on Friday, February 22nd with events continuing through Saturday, February 23rd.
Leah Desjardins will be the only female Eagle competing in an individual event as she ranks ninth in New England in the 60-meter dash going into the meet. This will be her third trip to the Championship competing in both the 60-meter and the 4x200-meter relay. The junior qualified in January at the Bowdoin Invitational I after sprinting across the finish line in 8.04 seconds. She also broke the program record in the 200-meter dash at the Southern Maine Invitational II with a speedy time of 26.85 seconds to qualify for the New England DIII Championship.
Desjardins will also be running a leg in the 4x200-meter relay along with teammates, Bree Sautter, Shea Curley, and Allison Kondracki. The Eagles achieved their qualifying feat at Bowdoin College while competing at the Maine Indoor State Championship. Pulling through as anchor, Desjardins helped the relay team capture a time of 1:52.91. Going into the weekend, the Husson relay squad ranks 19th among their competitors.
