    January 14, 2017
BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Husson women’s indoor track and field team competed for the third time this season in a meet at Bowdoin College. Five other schools traveled from multiple states to participate in the meet on Saturday, including Colby-Sawyer, Connecticut College, St. Joseph’s (Maine), WPI, and Wheaton (Mass). It was a long day for the athletes, booked full of events, starting at 12:30pm with the weight throw, continuing on until well-past 5pm to finish off the day with the 4x800 meter relay. The Husson women’s team finished fifth with 32 points, behind first place, WPI (102), Connecticut (86), then Wheaton and Bowdoin tied for third (71.5). The Eagles’ very own, Erin Ellison, kicked off the field events taking home first place in the weight throw with 15.07 meters, improving on her own school record. In the same event, Faith Burnett gathered up four points for her team with her fourth place, 12.63 meter toss. This dynamic duo dominated in the field events for Husson, placing in shot put, as well. Ellison proved her standout strength yet again breaking another season record, once again set by Ellison, chucking the shot put 11.41 meters. As for the other half of the duo, Burnett was close-by with a 10.77 meter throw for fifth place. Only 5’5”, Casey Modero placed second in triple jump, covering a distance of 10.09 meters. It was a record setting kind of night for the Eagles, as Leah Desjardins set her own in the 60 meter dash, not only taking fourth place with 8.14 seconds, but that impressive time also qualified her for the Division III New England Championships. Heidi Ntengeri placed in the 400 meter dash for the second meet in a row, just narrowly missing the school record she set last week by .12 seconds. Ntengeri took home fourth place for Husson. Morgan Clifford advanced even higher on the list of Top Ten times for Husson women in the 600 meter dash. After her fifth place time of 2:02:05 in the meet at Bowdoin, Clifford moved up to third on the Top Ten. Desjardins contributed another point to her team in the 200 meter dash with sixth place in 28.19 seconds. Just slightly faster, Brooke Hoople helped out her team taking second with a time of 27.11, but unfortunately missed the Division III New England Championships qualifying time by .01 seconds. The Husson Eagles hope to set even more school records next Saturday, January 21st, when they compete at Bates College Invitational.
