Brunswick, ME - The Husson women's indoor track and field team competed against five schools in the Maine State Indoor Championships at Bowdoin College on Friday night. Bowdoin's team won the meet with a commanding 203.6 points on the evening, while Husson finished in sixth.
Sophomore Sarah LaPlante (Wallingford, CT) was the lone point-scorer for the Eagles, earning sixth place in the women's shot put. The meet marked LaPlante's first one back from a stress fracture in her foot, and she threw a collegiate personal best 10.14. Diana Kruszewski (Auburn, ME) finished just out of the points in the shot put with a 9.02 m throw.
Kristen Lawrence (Manchester, NH) had a busy night for the Eagles, competing in the 60 meter dash, 200 meter run, and long jump. She ran a 8.63 in the 60 m dash, which was good enough for 13th place overall. Lawrence ran a 28.9 in the 200 m and jumped 4.49 meters in the long jump. Megan Darcy (Center Conway, NH) finished right behind Lawrence in both the 60 and 200 meter events.
This meet marked the end of Husson's first women's indoor track and field season. The outdoor season will kick off on March 9 when the team travels to the Palmetto Classic at College of Charleston & The Citadel in Mount Pleasant, SC.
