Gorham, ME - The Husson women's indoor track and field team kicked off its post-holiday meet schedule at the University of Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday. The seven-team event was a non team-scoring meet, and the Eagles saw some great individual performances in their second meet as a program.
In the 55 meter dash, junior Kristen Lawrence (Manchester, NH) ran a 7.90 and qualified for the finals, in which she finished eighth overall. Lawrence also made it to the 200 meter finals with teammate Megan Darcy (Center Conway, NH).
Sophomore Kristi Bryer (Howland, ME) competed in the 1000 meter and 3000 meter races, and she finished sixth in both.
The Eagles were well-represented in the throwing events by Sarah LaPlante (Wallingford, CT) and Paige McNaughton (Randolph, ME). McNaughton finished fourth in the weight throw and fifth in shot put. LaPlante finished fourth in the shot.
Husson will continue its inaugural season on January 18 at the Bates Pentathlon in Lewiston, Maine, followed by the Bates Invite the next day.
