Eagles Blaze by NVU-Lyndon in the NAC East Semifinals

WOBURN, Mass. - Advancing into the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Championship match with ease, the top-seeded Husson University women's tennis team refused to give up a point to the #4 Northern Vermont University-Lyndon in the Semifinal round as they buzzed past the Hornets, 5-0.

Husson jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead at the conclusion of doubles play. Eagles' #2 doubles pair Ashley Matlock and Nicci Munroe defeated Oo Mai Be and Erica Hayawaka, 8-0.  No. 3 doubles partners Marisa Brown and Jocelyn Bell swept Ro Ze Yar and Hailey Demers, 8-0. The #1 doubles pair Hannah Malinen and Natalie Tilton took down the Hornets' top pair of Emilie Dube and Savannah Jackson, 8-1, to take a big lead into the singles portion of the match.

The first singles match to conclude was at the #6 position, where Bell quickly overcame Demers, 6-0, 6-0. Matlock then clinched the semifinal win for the Eagles with a 6-1, 6-0 win against Dube.

Husson advances to the final round of the Championship to face #2 Lesley University at 3:30 p.m. later this afternoon.
