DELHI, N.Y. - The Husson women's tennis team competed against the newest conference member, the SUNY Delhi Broncos, for the first time since the program began and swept the court, 9-0. With the victory, the Eagles brought home their first win of the season and now stand 1-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action.
Husson's first doubles, Natalie Tilton and Hannah Malinen, took down Broncos' Hailey Gunderson and Mackenzie Landman, 8-2, to open up the morning. Husson sophomores Ashley Matlock and Nicci Munroe and seniors Marisa Brown and Jocelyn Bell defeated two more pairs of Broncos, both matches concluded with a final score of 8-1.
The Husson sophomore class dominated at SUNY Delhi in singles action as Tilton defeated Landman, 6-0, 6-1, Malinen took down Jessica Biller, 6-1, 6-2, Munroe beat Madison Saleman, 6-3, 6-0, and Julia O'Leary never relinquished a point to Sarah Krzyston, 6-0, 6-0. Husson senior Bell also competed both in doubles and singles action, earning a, 6-0, 6-0, win by taking down Delhi's Susan Hoskins.
The Eagles will stop their travels and make a slight detour on the way home to take on Massachusetts College Of Liberal Arts on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. for back-to-back conference matchups with new opponents.
