WATERVILLE, Maine - After an exciting week of capturing the NAC Women's Tennis Title, Husson sweeps all North Atlantic Conference (NAC) weekly tennis awards with Meridith Blessard achieving Player of the Week for the third time this season and Natalie Tilton was awarded Rookie of the Week for the first time as an Eagle.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Meridith Blessard, Husson - (Sr., - Lincoln, Maine)
Named MVP of the North Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Championship, Blessard led Husson to their first NAC Title. The senior also earned spots on both NAC All-Conference First Team Singles and Doubles teams as announced by the NAC prior to the championship. Helping the Eagles finish the fall season with ten wins and no losses, Blessard and partner Ashley Matlock defeated a pair of Hornets in the semifinals 8-1. The top flight doubles team took down Lesley's first doubles pair 8-0 in the championship match before Blessard won the deciding match (6-1, 6-0) to secure the victory and the berth to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament this spring.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Natalie Tilton, Husson - (Fr., - Lincoln, Maine)
A standout among standouts for the Eagle's freshman class, Tilton left it all on the court this past weekend to help Husson capture their first NAC Title while finishing the fall season undefeated, 10-0. Tilton captured two doubles victories while paired up with fellow classmate Hannah Malinen (8-0; 8-6), and a singles win (6-0, 6-0) in the North Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Championship Tournament. The rookie was also named to the NAC All-Conference First Team Singles, First Team Doubles, and Sportsmanship Team.
