PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Husson advanced to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Tennis Finals for the third year in a row after defeating Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, 5-0, in the NAC Semifinals on Saturday afternoon at Berkshire West Athletic Club in Massachusetts.
Cruising through doubles action with ease, the Eagles gave up their lone point of the afternoon to the Hornets in the matchup between Meridith Blessard, Ashley Matlock and Lyndon's Savannah Jackson, Faibe Achinda for a final score of 8-1. In the second flight, the freshmen duo of Natalie Tilton and Hannah Malinen shut down Roze Yar and Erica Hayakawa, 8-0, while Marisa Brown and Jocelyn Bell followed up with the same result against Oo Mai Be and Susmita Mangar.
Only two Eagles had the chance to compete in singles action since Husson dominated the courts earning five quick wins in the NAC Semifinals. The formidable pair of rookies, Tilton and Malinen, swept the Hornets, 6-0, 6-0, in singles action on their own separate courts this time as they defeated Hayakawa and Yar.
With this victory, the Eagles are set to take on the other semifinal winner, Lesley College, at 3 p.m. later this afternoon, Saturday, October 6th at Berkshire West Athletic Club to battle for the title of 2018 NAC women's tennis champions.
