Clarke Breaks Program Records on her way to Earning NEISDA Women's Swimmer of the Week

WESTON, Mass. – First-year swimmer Ellie Clarke has been voted as the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Women's Swimmer of the Week.

Swimming in her first collegiate competition Friday, October 25th, against Maine Maritime Academy, Clarke established two Eagle records in Husson's season opening win. Racing backstroke on the Eagles' 200 yard medley relay, Clarke touched in 29.40, eclipsing the 15 year record of 29.47, set in December of 2005. In the 100 back, Clarke set the second record of her young career with a 1:04.18 finish and won the event. Clarke also won the 50 back in 29.44, just fractions off a third record swim. Clarke led off the 200 free relay in 26.56, the fastest leg of any of the 16 swimmers who swam the relay event.

Prior to her swimming career at Husson, Clarke swam for Ellsworth High School in Ellsworth, ME. She is majoring in Elementary Education at Husson.

Clarke and the Husson Eagles return to the pool November 15th at Saint Joseph's College in Maine.
