BANGOR, Maine – Husson University hosted the 13th Annual Courtyard by Marriott Classic this weekend, coming in fourth overall after dropping a match, 3-0, to Western New England University on Sunday afternoon at Boucher Field. UMass Boston took first place with two wins on the weekend while Western New England took second after posting the best goal difference which was the determining tie breaker with Elms College taking third since both teams went 1-1.

Golden Bears' sophomore Morgan Smith found the back of the net twice in the first half with her second finish just minutes before concluding the opening period to give Western New England the two-goal advantage. Freshman Autumn Hathaway and sophomore Bee Murphy both earned the first assists as Golden Bears.
Barely three minutes into the second half, Western New England sophomore Mariana Goncalves connected on shot inside the box off a pass from freshman Allison Bruehwiler. The Eagles held off the Golden Bears from scoring again in the remaining 42 minutes for a final score of 3-0.
IN BETWEEN THE POSTS:
In net for the Eagles, Sami Ireland shut down ten shots on goal while on the opposite end of the field, Shannon Murphy picked up two saves for the Golden Bears.
Western New England outshot Husson, 22-3, while also posting the advantage in corner kicks, 6-2.
The Eagles will host once again, welcoming Colby College on Wednesday night, September 12th, for a 6:30 pm kickoff.
