Leah Hibbad Selected To Compete In NEWISA Senior Bowl

BANGOR, Maine - Husson senior forward Leah Hibbad has been selected to participate and represent the Eagles at the 2017 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl Game, to be held at Merrimack College on Sunday, December 3 at 2:00 p.m.

Hibbad is the first member of the women's soccer team in program history to be named to the NEWISA Senior Bowl. The senior was also one of eight forwards to be picked as she will be joined by Brie Voight from Elms College, Chandler Stier from Gordon College, Olivia Struckman from MIT (Leading Vote Garner), Sara Sanau Ruiz from Mount Holyoke College, Jaycie Triandafilou from New England College, Kim Quiles from Springfield College and Sophie Gomarlo from WPI in that category.

In 17 games this year with the Eagles, Hibbad registered a career-high 21 goals and a career-high 51 points to go along with career-high nine assists. Hibbad, who was named to the All-North Atlantic Conference (NAC) First Team in 2017 for the first time in her career, became the tenth Eagle in program history to earn three All-Conference honors during their time as a member of the program. She will end her career with 54 goals, 18 assists and 126 points in 70 career games played. In the record book, she will closeout her career ranked second in shots (324), and shots per game (4.70), tied for second in game-winning goals (11), third in points, goals, points per game (1.83), and goals per game (0.78), tied for seventh in assists, and tied for tenth in assists per game (0.26).

Hibbad, who became the first student-athlete to reach 50 points in a single season for the Eagles since 2008, helped Husson record the most points (139), goals (52), assists (35), and the highest points per game (8.18), goals per game (3.06), assists per game (2.06) and shots per game (19.76) in over ten years. Additionally, the senior captain helped the Eagles reach the program's first NAC Championship final in seven years.  

In four years with Husson, Hibbad and the senior class tallied a record of 36-33-4 for a winning percentage of .521, the best winning percentage by a senior class since the 2012 class.
