WATERVILLE, Maine - The four-time North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Champions Husson University women's soccer team has earned the second seed in the upcoming NAC Championship their highest seed since 2009 and will host a semifinal game on Wednesday, November 2.
New England College has claimed the top seed for the 2016 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Soccer Championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites Sunday, October 30.
The Pilgrims (12-5-1 overall) secured the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament after compiling an unbeaten 8-0-1 record in NAC play and will earn a bye in Sunday's quarterfinal round. Second-seeded Husson (7-7-2 overall, 6-1-2 NAC) will also earn a bye in the quarterfinals.
Colby-Sawyer (7-8-1, 6-2-1) claimed the No. 3 seed, while Maine Maritime (9-6-1, 6-3), Castleton (7-7-4, 5-2-2) and UMaine-Farmington (7-10, 5-4) earned the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 seeds respectively to complete the six-team tournament field.
Two quarterfinal contests will be played on Sunday, as No. 3 Colby-Sawyer will host No. 6 UMF and No. 4 Maine Maritime will host No. 5 Castleton. Both quarterfinal game times will be announced early this week.
Quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinal round which will be played on Wednesday, November 2. Top-seeded NEC will host the winner of the Maine Maritime/Castleton quarterfinal, while No. 2 Husson will host the winner of the Colby-Sawyer/UMF quarterfinal contest. Semifinal game times will be released at a later date.
Semifinal winners will square off for the conference championship on Saturday, November 5, at a time to be determined at the site of the higher seed.
The NAC Champion will receive an automatic berth to the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.
