CANTON, N.Y. – Husson women's lacrosse (5-5, 1-1 NAC) finished strong on Saturday afternoon, holding the SUNY Canton Roos (10-2, 5-0 NAC) scoreless in the final 15 minutes of the game while scoring three as they dropped a tough NAC match, 17-3, to the Roos on the road.

Mallory Burchill saw a lot of action as the netminder for the Eagles on Saturday, recording 13 saves in just the first half as the Husson defense kept busy trying to fend off the Roos. Despite all the saves, SUNY Canton was able to sneak 11 goals past the Husson squad into the back of the net before the whistle was blown to conclude the first half. Maddy Olsen was the lone Eagle to manage to squeeze through the Roos defense and pull off two shots on goal in the opening frame, but Nicole Piskorowski shut down the attack to maintain her shutout before being replaced in net by teammate Madison Leary to open up the second half of play.

On Husson's second free position shot of the game, with 10:14 left in regulation, Mary Cushing hit net on her first shot of the game to give the Eagles hope with their first goal of the afternoon. Less than two minutes later, Olsen found Jordyn Labrie to begin a late rally. Husson maintained the offensive pressure, after thwarting a clear attempt by the Roos, Ashley Cummings tallied on the Eagles' third and final goal of the game at the 6:20 mark. Despite holding SUNY Canton scoreless in the final 15 minutes of the game, the Eagles dropped the conference match, 17-3.

The Eagles have a tentative scheduled makeup date to play their conference game versus NVU-Lyndon at home on Thursday, April 18th. Then the women's lacrosse squad is scheduled to host their final home game of the season and their senior game next Saturday, April 20th. They are set to host Thomas College for a conference game at 1:00 p.m.
