Deshaies Sets All-Time Goals Mark, Women's Lacrosse Drops Game at NEC, 23-17

HENNIKER, N.H.—The Husson University women's lacrosse team was defeated by New England College, 23-17, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday.

Today's loss drops Husson to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in league play, while the victory brings the Pilgrims to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in NAC play.

The Eagles were led by Amanda Deshaies with five goals and two assists. She became Husson's all-time leading scorer (98), entering today's game just two shy of the record. Korallei Fifield also scored five times.
Maddy Olsen had six draw control wins for the Eagles.

In addition to Bainbridge, the Pilgrims received 13 points from nine goals and four assists from classmate Alana Scott. With her fifth score of the game, she tallied her 100th career goal.

NEC also received two goals, two assists and nine draw control wins from Caitlin Shanahan.  Scott and Bainbridge both had nine draw controls each as well.

The Pilgrims received nine saves in the victory from goaltender McKenzie Gallasso. Mallory Burchill had eight saves for Husson.

The Pilgrims scored the first two goals of the game and held their largest lead of the first half, 8-2, seven minutes into the game, but Husson shipped away over the remaining time to head into halftime one goal back at 13-12.

The second half remained close until the final 15 minutes of the game, when NEC scored four unanswered goals over a nine-minute span to seal the 23-17 victory.


Husson will host the University of Southern Maine on Monday, April 2. The game is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
