Women's Lacrosse Enters into NAC Tournament as No. 5 Seed with Win Over Mariners

CASTINE, Maine – Marriah Carrier and Mattie Russell dominated the field as they led their team to an 11-3 victory over the Maine Maritime Mariners Tuesday evening to finish out the regular season ranked fifth in the NAC.

The Eagles duo picked up the first goal of the game with an assist by Russell to Carrier for her first goal just over two minutes into play. Carrier continued on to score three more goals in the first half while Russell contributed two of her own to help establish a solid lead along with a successful shot by Makenna Mont for six unanswered goals. With just 14 seconds remaining in the first half, the Mariners answered back with a free position goal by Madison Barry. Going into halftime, the Eagles held a 7-1 lead over the Mariners.

In the second half, Megan Bataran opened up the scoring for the Eagles along with a third goal of the night for Russell, followed by Amanda Deshaies sinking a pair of goals in the back of the net. Maine Maritime once again answered at the end of the half with two goals this time, by Ashlee Knight and Tori Cooper, both finishing free position shots.

Husson goalie Kaitlin Dolloff had ten saves on the day while Sierra Wilson stopped 12 shots for Maine Maritime.

The Eagles will continue on into the NAC quarterfinals on Friday, April 28th as the fifth seed facing the No. 4 Colby-Sawyer Chargers.
