Henniker, N.H. – Husson University women's lacrosse would be out score 11-2 in the second half of play as New England College topped the Eagles 13-9 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play Saturday.
With the win the Pilgrims improve to 9-6 overall and 5-1 in NAC play. With the loss the Eagles drop to 3-6 on the season and 2-3 in NAC.
Leading the way for the Pilgrims was Tara Bainbridge who notched seven goals and dished out an assist. Gabriella Bigos finished the game with two goals and a game-high 11 draw controls. Allison Granata chipped in two scores and picked up five ground balls, while Alana Scott finished with a goal and two assists.
NEC senior Gabriella Bigos netted her 100th career goal in the victory.
Husson was led by Mattie Russell who finished with two goals and two assists. Amanda Deshaies finished with two goals and five draw controls. Midfielder Mariah Carrier and defender Serian Williams each scooped up six groundballs.
Husson would net the final four goals of the opening half leading 7-2 at the intermission but the Pilgrim offense would come alive in the second half outscoring the Eagles 11-2.
NEC finished the game outshooting Husson 36-22, while the Eagles held the 27-20 advantage in ground balls. The Pilgrims were dominate in draw controls winning 17 of 24 draws. NEC finished the game 21-of-29 in clear attempts, while Husson was 19-of-26.
Picking up the win in net for NEC was Mackenzie Meegan who finished with nine saves.
Husson's Kaitlin Dolloff recorded 10 saves in the loss.
The Pilgrims return to action on Wednesday, April 20 when they host NAC rival Castleton State University.
Husson will hit the field again on Wednesday, April 20 when they host NAC opponent Thomas College.
