Women's Lacrosse defeats Green Mountain on Senior Day

BANGOR, ME – Amanda Deshaines and Alissa Fallon combined to score five goals to power the Husson University women's lacrosse team to an 11-4 victory over Green Mountain on Saturday afternoon as Husson honored their six senior players. Mattie Russell and Abi Staab also contributed two goals apiece for Husson. Husson finishes their regular season 7-5 overall and 6-2 in the North Atlantic Conference, while Green Mountain finishes their season 2-11 overall and 0-8 in NAC play.

Husson came out a little slow to start the game as they got down 1-0 on a goal from Green Mountain's Rebecca Girouard just minutes into the game. Husson would respond with the next four goals coming from Russell, Deshaies, and two in a row from Staab making it 4-1 with 23:11 reaming in the first half.  Green Mountain would find the back of the net, this time a women down goal on a shot off the stick of Catie Brewster making it 4-2 with 14:31 remaining. Husson would again answer with the next four goals, coming from the sticks of Russell, Michaela Bicknell, Deshaies and Rashell Saucier to end the 1st half with an 8-2 lead. 

Husson would continue to light the score board up in the second half as Deshaies would score her third goal of the game with 18:24 remaining, putting Husson up a commanding 9-2.  Green Mountain's Catie Brewster would tally her second goal of the game making it 9-3 Husson with 6:28 left to play.  Fallon would net the next two goals for Husson putting them up 11-3. Green Mountain's Rachel Aramburu would score a late goal with only 38 second reaming making it 11-4. 

Deshaines finished with a game high three goals and two assists. Fallon added two goals and two assists. Russell had two goals and an assist. Staab also had two goals.

Jess Poulin played the entire game for Husson, making seven saves.

Katie Legnard stopped nineteen shots for Green Mountain.

Hayley Thibeau became Husson's all-time career leader in casued turnovers with 56 when she had two in today's game.

Husson outshot Green Mountain 35-14, while came away with the edge in ground balls 33-18.
