Nashua, NH – Host Daniel Webster dropped its 2015 season opener by a 17-2 final to Husson in a regional matchup Sunday afternoon in a contest played at Raider Field on the Rivier College campus. Both DWC scores were netted by senior Alexis Pavelock in the second half.
Husson (1-2) posted 12 first half goals to take control and outshot the Eagles 28-9 on goal. Mattie Russell (Hope Valley, R.I.) led the Eagles with three goals and an assist while Alissa Fallon (Kennebunk, Maine) notched two goals and two assists. Amanda Deshaines (Wells, Maine) also reached four points with a goal and three assists.
Kaitlin Dolloff (Richmond, R.I.) made seven saves for the winners, while Madison Platte (Manchester, N.H.) stopped 11 shots for DWC.
Madeline Roulier (Pittsfield, Mass.) chipped in to help the DWC cause with game highs of six draw controls and four groundballs.
DWC trailed 14-0 in the second before Pavelock would register back-to-back strikes with 14:27 and 12:31 remaining. Natalie Nagle (Dolgeville, N.Y.) picked up an assist in the first score.
Husson host Johnson State in a NAC matchup on Saturday at 1:00 p.m and DWC is off until Tuesday, March 24 when they travel to Southern Vermont for a NECC contest beginning at 3:30 p.m.
