Late Game Goals Not Enough for Eagles; Stauffer Reaches 100 Point Milestone

Middletown, RI - Despite three late game goals, Husson women's lacrosse fell to Salve Regina on Wednesday afternoon, 13-3.

This game was the first meeting between the two schools. 

The Eagles (0-4) found themselves down quickly in the first half, with Salve Regina scoring their first goal within the first minute of play. 

The Seahawks (2-2) were led by Grace Kelly who scored three goals in the first half, guiding Salve Regina to a 8-0 lead heading into halftime. In the second half the Seahawks returned to their scoring, quickly putting four more goals in net, jumping out to a 12-0 lead.  

Caitlyn Stauffer (Brookfield, CT) got the Eagles on the board at 13:12 remaining in the game, scoring her team-leading 7th goal of the season. With her goal, Stauffer has reached the 100 point milestone with the Eagles. She has recorded 84 career goals, and 16 assists.

Abi Staab (Berlin, VT) struck next for Husson, closing the gap to 12-2 on her unassisted strike, her 4th of the season. 

The Seahawks would only score one more time with five minutes remaining in the game. Husson's Mattie Russell (Hope Valley, RI) added her second goal of the game with a 3:01 remaining, to close the lead to the game final 13-3. 

Husson goalie Kaitlin Dolloff (Richmond, RI) made 10 saves in the losing effort, while the Seahawks' Josephine O'Reilly stopped 9 shots. 

Husson will remain on the road for the next six games, starting with Norwich on Saturday, March 15th at 2:00 PM.
