Women’s Lacrosse Struggles to Take Down Spartans

Bangor, ME – Husson women's lacrosse fell to NAC top seed Castleton State College on Sunday 17-2, at Boucher Field.

The Spartans, who are undefeated in the North Atlantic Conference, jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Eagle Caitlyn Stauffer (Brookfield, CT) found the back of the net unassisted to close the lead to 2-1.

Unfortunately, Castleton answered back with 3 additional goals before the Eagles found the back of the net again. Alissa Fallon (Kennebunk, ME) connected with Amanda Mora (Stratford, CT) for a goal, making it 5-2.

Castleton would score 10 more times in the first half and just two times in the second quarter to win 17-2.

"Although we did not win, I am proud of the girls for putting up a strong fight against the first place team," said Head Coach Jen Johnstone, "We were equal in ground balls which was a huge focus for us. Those early game yellow cards really set us back in the first half."

Jennilee Mark and Madison DaCosta led the way for Castleton having 3 goals apiece. Mariah Lesure had 2 goals.

Husson goalkeeper Chelsea Kondratowicz (Kingston, NY) had 6 saves in 60:00 minutes of play.

With this loss the Eagles fall to 3-8 overall on the season and 1-4 in the North Atlantic Conference. They will play their final regular season game at Boucher Field on this Wednesday when they face Thomas College at 4:00 PM.
