BRUNSWICK, Maine - The high-scoring Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team scored 20 goals in a game for the fifth time this season, easily dispatching Husson University 20-1 on Wednesday night at Ryan Field. The 12th-ranked Polar Bears (12-2) will look to earn a NESCAC home quarterfinal berth when they travel to Tufts on Friday evening.
Husson (7-7) will host Maine-Farmington in a NAC Semifinal Saturday at noon.
Cayla Liptak led Bowdoin with three scores while Devin Hardy and Jordan Smith had two goals and two assists each. Betsy Sachs had three assists for the Polar Bears. Kim Gambon had Husson's lone goal.
The teams traded goals in the opening minute before Bowdoin scored the final 19 tallies of the contest. The Polar Bears led 14-1 at intermission and allowed one Husson shot in the second half. Bowdoin also racked up 14 caused turnovers and held the Eagles to 4-19 on defensive clears.
Molly Popolizio led Bowdoin with four caused turnovers while Olivia King had four ground balls. Sachs also had six draw controls for the Polar Bears. Tara Connolly stopped three of the four shots she faced while Kaleigh Morneau made seven saves for the Eagles.
