Bangor, ME - The University of Southern Maine Huskies downed the Husson University Eagles 14-3 in a non-conference matchup at Husson's Boucher field. Lauren Santo led the Huskies to victory with 5 goals. With the loss, Husson falls to 7-6 while USM improves to 6-8.
Prior to the start of the game, Husson Honored the contribution made by seniors Rebecca Hatin, Rachel Swasey, Alex Huffman, Megan Clement, Vanessa Nelson, and Nicki Burns with a senior day presentation.
Lauren Santo got Southern Maine on the scoreboard just sixteen seconds in to the first half. The Huskies would score two more goals to push their lead to 3-0 early in the half. Husson's Rebecca Hatin collected an unassisted score. The first half ended with a 6-3 Husky advantage.
Husson's Kim Gambon started the second half with an unassisted tally and was immediately answered by Santo. The Huskies dominated the second half, scoring seven unanswered goals , featuring three back-to-back scores by Shelby Turcotte. The game ended with a 14-3 victory by the University of Southern Maine.
Santo led all scorers with five goals for the Huskies and was followed by Turcotte with three goals and one assist. Husson's Stephanie Eaton, Kim Gambon, and Rebecca Hatin each notched a goal in the loss.
The University of Southern Maine returns to action on Saturday, April 23 with a home contest against Keene State. The Eagles travel to Bowdoin on Wednesday, April 27 for a 7:00 PM contest.
