BANGOR, Maine - Husson University Athletics would like to take the months of May and June to recognize the 2019-20 Eagle Award winners who would have been honored at the annual Eagle Award Banquet.
The Eagle Award winners are named by the head coach and coaching staff. Each coach may only select one winner per team. This honor is presented to those student-athletes who stand out as exemplary teammates and show what it means to be a true "Husson Eagle."
Husson Women's Basketball's Eagle Award winner of 2019-20 is Joan Overman.
"Joan Overman is probably the most athletic player we have ever had wearing a Husson uniform. She is a phenomenal student-athlete who will be graduating in May with a 3.8 GPA in Marketing Management and a Master's in General/Corporate Administration. Joan's impact on the program has been exceptional, helping capture five NAC Championships. She was named Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference her senior season. Joan has accomplished all of this while working 40-plus hours a week doing two to three different jobs."
This fierce competitor has played in 110 games, scoring 558 points, collecting 461 rebounds, 160 assists, and 161 steals. She led the NAC this past season for most steals with 38 in conference matchups. Starting in all 27 games she played in this past season, Joan was a relentless defender on the court as she swiped 59 steals in her senior campaign. A busy lady, Overman was a two-sport athlete as she also competed on the Husson women's soccer team for three seaons.
Congratulations to Husson Women's Basketball's 2019-20 Eagle Award winner – Joan Overman!
