BANGOR, Maine – An explosive first quarter led by Sydney Allen drilling four buckets from downtown and 12-for-16 shooting by the Eagles as a team helped drive a, 91-60, sweep of the University of Maine-Presque Isle Owls (2-10, 0-4 NAC) this weekend for the Husson University women's basketball team (6-7, 4-0 NAC).

Finishing out an astounding first quarter scoring a whopping 31 points, the Eagles found an unstoppable rhythm on both offense and defense as they held the Owls to a mere seven points. In just six minutes of court time, Allen hit 4-4 from behind the arc for 12 points while Bailey Donovan and Vanessa Duarte added on five more apiece with impeccable accuracy.

After the break pause in action between quarters, UMPI found their footing and outscored Husson, 18-14, over the course of the following ten minutes led by Marissa Reagle with three steals to maintain possession. At the conclusion of the opening half, the host held a comfortable 20-point cushion, 45-25.

Allen continued to hit her shots into the third quarter, netting six consecutive three-pointers throughout the game to help the Eagles continue to push away. By the final frame, Husson held UMPI scoreless for the opening three minutes before Sarah Musselman took a trip to the free throw line and hit a basket bringing the score to 72-45. With 4:09 left to play, the Eagles captured their largest lead of the afternoon after Donovan nailed a jumper with ease to help Husson go on to win, 91-60.

  • Allen achieved a new career high after draining six shots from behind the arc for 18 points by the end of the game.
  • Husson snagged 44 rebounds as a team to UMPI's 22 while the Eagles shot 50.8% (30-59) from the field.
