BANGOR, MAINE -The Husson women's basketball team (16-7, 12-0 NAC) took the lead from the opening minute and never looked back as the Eagles defeated the Thomas College Terriers (6-16, 5-7 NAC), 63-46, in the final home game of the regular season. Kenzie Worcester was honored before the game as the only senior on the team.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the opening minutes, all from Worcester who scored 14 of her points in the first quarter. The Terriers got on the board with 6:12 left in the frame off a Molly Horton layup. The Eagles took a 19-7 lead going into the 2nd quarter.
The offensive load balanced out in the 2nd quarter as Emma Alley and Megan Peach alternated scoring throughout the period. The Eagles were strong on defense holding the Terriers to a mere 18 points in the first half as they stretched their lead to 34-18 heading into halftime.
The Terriers opened the scoring in the second half with a pair of free throws from Molly Carroll, but couldn't get closer than 13 points as the Eagles offense continued to score fast and often as Joan Overman scored a pair of jumpers to lead the Eagles in the third, taking a 47-34 advantage advancing into the final quarter.
The intensity would stay high on both sides of the floor as Husson pulled way and held Thomas to 12 points in the final quarter. Worcester would add to her total to finish the night with a game-high 27 points. The Eagles clinched their 16th overall win of the season and remained undefeated in North Atlantic Conference action.
Kenzie Worcester knocked down 27 Points, six rebounds, and three steals.
Megan Peach grabbed yet another double-double between ten points and 12 rebounds, while adding on five steals and two blocks.
Joan Overman came up big under the glass with two blocked shots and eight boards.
Kaylee Ravagli was the lone Terrier to break double digits with 14 points and five rebounds.
Molly Horton chipped in seven points.
Malorie Weaver snagged ten boards and netted six points.
The Eagles will travel to UMaine-Farmington for their 13th conference game of the season tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m.
