WATERVILLE, Maine – Megan Peach lights up to help Husson (12-6, 8-0 NAC) take down Thomas College (Maine) (5-13, 4-5 NAC) on Friday night, 55-48, at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.
Capturing an early 7-2 lead in the opening five minutes after a 3-pointer by Logan Huckins, the Eagles maintained a slight advantage going into the second quarter, 11-10.
Thomas picked up their first lead off a three by Kaylee Ravagli, 15-14, but within three minutes, Husson was back on top, 19-18, off a layup by Joan Overman. The two team swapped the lead a couple times before Husson extended their lead to 27-23 going into the half off a jumper by Braylee Wildman from 3-point range.
The two team were neck-and-neck going into the second half, until Nikki Bradstreet put the Terriers back on top from beyond the 3-point arc, 37-35, with just two minutes left to play in the third quarter. Closing out the quarter on a 7-3 run, Thomas entered into the final quarter with a close 41-38 lead.
From the charity stripe, Nicole Tapparo put the Eagles ahead, 42-41, and seven points later, Megan Peach extended the lead while holding the Terriers scoreless until the final two minutes of the game. Giving up only seven points in the fourth quarter, Husson captured a 55-48 win.
Hitting a career-high, Peach grabbed 20 rebounds and netted 14 points for a double-double.
Vanessa Duarte contributed nine points off the bench and five boards.
Both Kenzie Worcester and Overman added on nine points and three assists apiece.
Molly Carroll led her team with nine points alongside Ravagli.
Bradstreet added on eight points.
Karli Stubbs helped put with eight boards and five points.
Heading back home on Saturday, January 26th, the women will host UMaine-Farmington with tipoff at 5:30 p.m. for a conference game.
