BANGOR, Maine - Our next top moment of the 2017-18 athletic season was the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Softball Championship Tournament from May 4th-6th.
On Friday, the Eagles started off the double-elimination tournament with a 2-0 lost to Thomas College despite three hits from Bri Brochu. Husson eliminated Castleton University with a 4-0 victory in game three of the tournament thanks in part to 3-run sixth inning.
On Saturday, Husson stayed alive by beating Thomas College, 1-0 in game 5 of the tournament as Morgan Coleman drove in the only run of the game and Jen Jones pitched an one-hitter. The Eagles followed that victory up with a 9-1 win over New England College in game 6. Kylie Kennedy fueled the offense with a 3-run home run in the victory over the Pilgrims.
On Sunday, the Eagles captured their 8th NAC Championship by beating the Pilgrims, 4-1 in a winner-take-all game 7. Brochu led the offense with three hits and two RBI.
Jen Jones was named MVP of the tournament as she pitched every inning of the tournament and allowed four runs on 19 hits while she struck out 38 and walked only six batters.
