The Husson University Eagles clinched the number one seed in the North Atlantic Conference Tournament with a sweep of Lyndon State College. Husson notched a 5-1 victory in game one and a 10-2 win in game two. With the win, Husson improves to 19-15 (12-2 NAC) while Lyndon State falls to 8-16 (4-10 NAC).
Husson scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Dottie Cameron hit a two run double and Bri Webster knocked in an RBI double. The Eagles tacked on an additional run in the third inning off an Amy Mortensen single to left field.
Lyndon State tallied a run in the fifth inning off an RBI single to left field by Tia Billado proved to be the game's only run for the Hornets. Kara Poirier hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to give the Eagles their final run of the game.
Husson's Kody Lyon received the win for her six innings of work that featured five strikeouts and eight hits. Meghan Gadapee shouldered the loss giving up nine hits and five runs in six innings of work.
Game two began with two runs scored by Husson in the top of the first inning off a two run single up the middle by Aimee Mortensen. Lyndon reached the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning off a solo homerun to left field by Kelly Butler. The Hornets tacked on an additional run in the top of the fifth inning off a passed ball but could not make up the deficit and lost 10-2.
Kelly Naegelin earned the win with four innings, four strikeouts, and three hits. Meghan Gadapee received the loss for the Hornets.
