WATERVILLE, Maine – Taking on many top competitors in the state of Maine, Husson men's cross country ran to a 9th-place finish out of 13 total teams attending the Maine State Championship this weekend hosted by Colby College.
Joel Bond and Zach Hartman once again paced the Eagles this year at the Maine State Championship, finishing with the top-two times for Husson in the 8K. Bond captured a top-25 time, shaving off nearly an entire minute from his first-year time as he crossed in at 27:47.0 (22nd). Hartman took 43rd with his time of 29:41.8. Not far behind was first-year Voldivain Mboma, averaging just under a six-minute mile, the rookie grabbed 44th-place as he ran in for a time of 29:45.8.
First-year Liam McKinnon crossed in next with a time of 32:53.9 (60th) followed by Ricky Smith at 33:25.2 (64th). For the second year in a row, Smith helped pace the Eagles with a top-five time on his squad at the Maine State Championship.
The Eagles have one last meet scheduled before the North Atlantic Conference Championship in November. The Husson men's cross country team will travel to Thomas College in nearly three weeks on Friday, October 25th to compete in the Thomas Invitational.
