WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—The men's track and field team competed at the New England DIII Championship this weekend at Williams College, their first ever appearance at the meet.

Eric Hathaway and Justin Martin led the way for the Eagles with both earning All-New England honors.  Hathaway took 6th place in the shot put, launching a new school-record throw of 14.49 meters.  The toss also flew Hathaway up the leaderboard as he came into the meet seeded 18th.  Hathaway was the top finisher from the North Atlantic Conferenc (NAC).

Teammate Martin was not to be outdone, however.  Martin came into the javelin seeded 8th, yet jumped up one spot to 7th place with a throw of 56.85 meters.  Martin was originally slated to throw on Friday, but was delayed until Saturday due to weather conditions.  Clearly the change didn't throw Martin off as his throw is another school record and he finished as the top NAC athlete in the event.

Martin and Hathaway lifted the team to a 27th place overall at the meet, an incredible feat for a first appearance.

Francesco Wright and Alex Charette also gained valuable experience at the meet in their respective events.  Wright placed 16th in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.87 meters, while Charette took 20th in triple jump as he leapt out to 12.08 meters.
