LEWISTON, Maine—Husson men's track and field competed in the Maine State Championships at Bates College, placing sixth overall while athletes set several new school records along the way.
Eric Hathaway continued his banner year for the Eagles, setting yet another school record in the shotput. Hathaway tossed the shot 13.64 meters which earned him a third-place finish at the meet. The throwing events proved to be Husson's strong point on the day. Justin Martin had another strong showing in the javelin, taking third place with a throw of 49.76 meters.
Francesco Wright led the way on the track for the Eagles. Wright ran a 1:02.96 in the 400-meter hurdles, setting both a personal best and a new school record in the event.
Husson's relays also performed well on the day, and the 4x100-meter relay team of Jake Dobos, Will Goforth, Andrew Wilbekin, and Dustin Wood took third place, finishing in 45.64 seconds. The 4x400 team of made up of Will Richard, Adam Hitchcock, Francesco Wright and Nick Young finished the race 3:53.79 to finish in sixth.
Husson will step back on the track Sun. Apr. 30 as they'll look to put down some strong performances in the NAC championship meet at Colby-Sawyer College.
