WATERVILLE, Maine – Husson University men's track and field freshman Joe Minard had three top ten finishes on Saturday at the Colby College Invitational. The meet was a non-scoring event.
Minard came in fourth in the discus, sixth place in the hammer and ninth in the javelin throwing events while winning the shot put. He tossed his discus 30.27 meters, threw his hammer 26.29 meters and javelin 29.55 meters. Minard won the shot put with a school record of 11.71 meters, two meters better than second place. His throws in the discus and hammer were also new school records.
In the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, Lucas Kinney crossed the finish line with a school record 11:20:56 for a fourth place finish.
Miguel Caballero finished third in the long jump with a school record jump of 6.12 meters and took seventh in the 200 meter dash by crossing the finish line in school record time of 23.61.
Andrew Balsamo ran a 4:19.00 in the 1500 meter run setting a new school record and finished third in the 5000 meter run with a 16.26.29.
Francesco Wright set two new school records in the pole vault (3.65m) and the 400 meter hurdles (1:05.66). He finished third in the pole vault and fifth in the 400 meter hurdles.
Other Eagles who finished in the top five were Josh Wheeler in the pole vault (3.35m), the high jump (1.67m) and the triple jump (11.44m), William Richard in the high jump (1.72m) and the 400 meter dash (54.49) and Owen Freeman in the javelin (45.00).
The Eagles 4x400 meter relay took fourth with a time of 3:47.74.
The Eagles will return to the track next weekend at Maine State Championships, hosted by Colby College.
