BANGOR, Maine - Husson University Athletics would like to take the months of May and June to recognize the 2019-20 Eagle Award winners who would have been honored at the annual Eagle Award Banquet.
The Eagle Award winners are named by the head coach and coaching staff. Each coach may only select one winner per team. This honor is presented to those student-athletes who stand out as exemplary teammates and show what it means to be a true "Husson Eagle."
The Husson Men's Lacrosse Eagle Award winner of 2019-20 is Brendan McNally.
"While we have had some tough choices over the years on who is most deserving of this award this may have been the hardest. With how the season ended and the careers of some great young men also ending was very trying. We tell our student-athletes to be ready for adversity and to handle it by making the most of the situation, but this was one we could not, and I had no solace to offer them, or experience to call upon to help them. With that said, this group came together in these tough times and it was because of our leadership, not just our captains but this incredible senior class. Any one of them could have deserved it, but in the end the staff and I decided that we would honor Brendan McNally. He is what you want a student-athlete to be. He is a great student, always on the Dean's List, humble, hard-working and supremely talented. In addition to making Husson better, he made our state better by being a member of the National Guard. Brendan came into college with no playing experience, but because he is a freak athlete, he became a day in and day out starter for us. While he started as a defensive midfielder, he made the transition to LSM this year, and in my opinion was a likely all-conference player. While there is so much we don't know from this season, what I do know is that Brendan is one of the best men to come through this program and has left the program better than when he joined it. I will always be indebted to this great group of young men, and we are very proud to have Brendan join an elite class of Eagle Award recipients. We wish we could have sent him and his classmates out with a conference title, but instead we will celebrate all the great memories we had with them and this team."
Congratulations to Husson Men's Lacrosse 2019-20 Eagle Award winner – Brendan McNally!
