BANGOR, Maine – Husson University athletics would like to take the month of April to honor all seniors and 2020 graduates who would have been honored at the annual Senior Banquet.
To the seniors whose 2020 seasons were abruptly cut short in the wake of the coronavirus:
This is not the season you envisioned, nor the exit from collegiate men's lacrosse that you deserve. While some of you may be able to return to the field next year, thanks to the NCAA granting back this year of eligibility to 2020 spring sport student-athletes, many of you will move on to the next chapter in life with an unfinished collegiate athletics career. Although that is an unsatisfying end, we hope you take comfort in the memories made and goals accomplished in seasons past. We know you will step forth and make the world better in an unprecedented time that can really use your strength, knowledge, and spirit.
Husson men's lacrosse will be honoring five seniors this year. Head coach Mike Craig has a few words he would like to share in honor of his seniors:
"A freshman on the field, but a senior in the classroom, Tyler was a very welcome addition to our team. He always brought a jovial attitude and helped keep practices and team lifts fun. On the field, Tyler was a jack of all trades, but saw most of his time on the offensive end. After transferring, we are happy that he has found a home and helped carry the Husson banner forward. Tyler will be graduating with a degree in Marketing."
"Brendan started his lacrosse career four years ago, and took to it like a fish to water. A great athlete, he has been a mainstay in the defensive end, and a terror in transition. Brendan was really excelling in his new role this year as an LSM and close defender. Brendan is a Criminal Justice major and after being in the National Guard, will join the military following graduation."
"Connor did a great job of mixing working hard and having fun while he did it. Although his playing career was curtailed due to injuries, his tenacity kept him coming back. He continually proved that he was among the very best of the defensive players that we have had here. Although he was unable to play this season, he was still a great teammate and his impact was felt by making us a better team. Connor will be graduating with a degree in Business Management."
"Owen has been a mainstay at the "X" over his career at Husson. He is an old school throwback, having started every game that he played in. Owen did a masterful job of combining grit and overwhelming technical ability. As great as he was as a player, arguably his greatest impact will be how he has impacted the future of the position. Owen was another coach on the field and helped mentor our younger face off specialists. Owen will go down as an all-time great at his position, and will graduate with a degree in Biology."
"Nick has been a huge part of the program over the last five years. A native of Concord, N.H., he spent most of his career between the pipes while leading the team on a truly incredible playoff run in his sophomore season. Nick is a tireless worker and a consummate teammate, and it was a blessing to have coached him. He will graduate with a degree in Sport Management."
Congratulations to the Husson men's lacrosse 2020 senior class!
