Men's Lacrosse Downed by Beacons, 26-6

BOSTON, Mass. - Gunner McAllister tallied a hat trick on Saturday afternoon as the Husson University men's lacrosse team (0-2) fell to the Beacons of UMass Boston (1-0), 26-6, in non-conference action at James Cotter Field.

IN THE ACTION:

UMass Boston opened up scoring with a goal by Joe Mauceri assisted by Gavin Admirand 2:40 into the game. Jaden Wells scored first for the Eagles as Gunner McAllister dished out the assist.  Gavin Admirand and Conor Lenfest both recorded hat tricks for the home team in the first period as Husson closed out the quarter down 8-1.

Aaron Lahah cut the deficit to six in the second quarter as he scored his first career goal in the green and gold, before Admirand connected with Lenfest to extend the Beacons lead and sent the Eagles into the break behind 14-3. 

Both teams brought in fresh goalies for the second half as Husson's Bryan Wagg and UMass-Boston's Charlie Cook went to work in goal. The Beacons' Admirand registered three more tallies in the third quarter before Griffin Madore found McAllister to cut into the home teams lead, 17-4.

The final frame saw McAllister add his third goal of the afternoon while Jaden Wells scored his first of the contest as the Eagles fell to the Beacons, 26-6.

TEAM STATS:

The Beacons held the advantage in shots (98-28), ground balls (65-24) and face-off wins (29-7) in the victory.

THE KEEPERS:

Kyle Prior registered 17 saves on 59 shots in the first half for the Eagles before Bryan Wagg entered the contest in the second half, recording 12 saves on 39 shots.

UMass Boston's Trevor Koppy made 3 saves on 14 shots during the first half, while Charlie Cook played the second half making 5 saves on 14 shots.

LEADERS - Husson:

  • McAllister scored three goals off of twelve shots and dished out one assist.

  • Wells recorded two goals, one assist and picked up two ground balls.

  • Darryn Bailey registered three ground balls.

  • Jacob Larochelle won two of three faceoffs.

LEADERS - UMass-Boston:

  • Admirand finished with six goals and five assists on sixteen shots.

  • Lenfest added six goals, four ground balls and a helper for the home team. 

  • Darragh Fahey contributed three goals and five assists.

The Eagles will travel to St. Joseph's (Maine) on Tuesday, February 25th. The game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
