CRANSTON, R.I. – After two days of competition at the Cranston Country Club for the Wildcat Spring Invitational, the Husson men's golf team came away with a 4th place finish, ending with a cumulative score of 613.
Concluding the first day of action on Saturday, the Eagles were five swings away from second place with a score of 307. Gavin Dugas was leading the team after day one by sitting in a seven-way tie for eighth. After shooting just four over par his first day (75), G. Dugas finished strong, taking second out of all the competitors from 20 different schools. His combined score was a 144. Mackenzie Clow joined G. Dugas in the top 25 after carding a 154 (76-78) to finish in a five-way tie for 23rd.
Taylor Morang (76-82) and Nick Mazurek (81-78) were neck-and-neck, shooting a 158 and 159. Morang tied for 40th at invite while Mazurek was vying for a six-way tie for 45th. The final Eagle to compete for Husson, Eric Dugas who was tied for 46th after day one, but dropped behind by a couple more on day two to finish with an overall score of 161, good enough for a two-way tie for 56th.
Next weekend, the Eagles will journey to Dartmouth, Mass. for the Lafrance Hospitality Invitational at the Allendale Country Club on April 19-20.
