Eagles Downed by #5 Mules, 97-70

BANGOR, Maine - Despite a career-high 31 point effort from sophomore guard Justice Kendall, the Husson men's basketball (6-9, 4-1 NAC) stumbled in a non-conference match-up against the #5 Colby College Mules (16-0, 4-0 NESCAC), 97-70 on Tuesday evening. 


Bruce St. Peter kicked off the scoring for the Eagles, hitting a shot inside the paint, before Colby's Noah Tyson would make a three-pointer on the next possession to put the Mules up, 3-2. Justin Thompson would give the Eagles their largest lead of the first half, making a shot from underneath the basket to give the home team an 11-5 advantage.The first 10:32 of the first half would see no team hold a lead larger than six points, before Alex Dorion made a jumper at 5:43 to put the Mules up by ten. This would contribute to the visitors heading on a 29-9 run, giving them a 22 point advantage behind two made free throws from Matt Hanna. Thompson sparked a 7-0 run for the Eagles to bring them within 13 points of the nationally ranked Mules, but would see the home team head to the locker room down 56-38.

The Eagles would start the second half looking to erase the deficit, as Kendall opened the scoring on a 7-0 run himself, putting up a jump-shot, a shot from downtown and hitting a shot from the charity line. Colby would gain possession, before an aggressive defensive play from Kendall that would see him with a steal and a strong drive to the basket to cut into the visitors lead, 58-45. The Mules extended their lead to 29 at the 9:47 mark as Will King would make a lay-up to give the visitors a 77-49 advantage. Kendall would bring the Eagles back within 25 points, before ending the game scoring the last seven points for the Eagles as the visitors remain undefeated by a final score of 97-70.


  • Kendall scored a career-high 31 points in the losing effort, adding five rebounds, two steals and an assist. 

  • Thompson contributed 17 bounds, six boards and two assists.

  • The Mules were led by Jefferson who put up 21 points and four rebounds in the victory.


Husson men's basketball hits the road to take on the Roos of SUNY Canton for a set of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) games. The first matchup is set for Friday, January 24th with tip-off slated for 7:30pm.
