2019-20 Men's Basketball Program Continues to Grow Adding J Thomas

BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's basketball program continued to recruit late into the summer and recently received a commitment from J Braxton Thomas.  Thomas is a 6-2 guard who played one year at Washington County CC in Wisconsin.

"J is a very good shooting guard and plays with a lot of maturity," says head coach Warren Caruso.  "J had a great year at WCCC and will give us additional depth at the wing position."

Thomas played at Bradley Barbonnais High School (IL) before going to WCCC.  He averaged 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game in the 2017-18 season at WCCC.  Thomas was the second leading scorer helping WCCC to 21-1 record and 16-0 in conference play.  He started 17 games shooting 43.5% from the field, 76.7% from the free throw line, and 40% from the three.  He led the team in three point shooting percentage, makes, and attempts (58-145).

Thomas joins Jared Balser (Mt. Ararat HS), Scott Lewis (So. Portland HS), Luke Martin (Ponte Vedra HS), Derick Collin (MDI HS), KJ Seals (Trevecca Nararene College) in this year's recruiting class.

Husson finished the 2018-19 season with a 17-11 record, winning their seventh North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship in 11 years.  The Eagles advanced to the NCAA National Tournament losing to #19 Williams in the first round, 86-60.  Husson men's basketball has earned the share or outright regular season conference title four-straight years and 15 times in the last 25 years.  The Eagles recorded their 36th consecutive winning season and made their 34th consecutive conference tournament appearance.
