FARMINGTON, Maine - University of Maine-Farmington scored two goals in the second half as the Beavers (3-10, 3-1 NECC) defeated the Husson University field hockey team (5-5, 2-1 NECC) by a final score of 2-0 at Prescott Field in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action on Tuesday afternoon.

The Beavers were on the attack for most of the first half as they outshot the Eagles, seven to one, forcing Kimmie Goddard to stop five shots on frame to protect the 0-0 deadlock in the first half. The Eagles had their best chance at scoring when Allysah Greene took a slapshot from the top of the arc, seeing it fly by just inches wide of the net.

The Beavers scored the first tally of the afternoon as Goddard stopped a shot, but Beavers' Alex Bessey was readily awaiting to score on the rebound. The Eagles looked to respond as Karen Stemm notched two shots in the third quarter and another chance in the fourth on a penalty quarter play as Stemm found Katie Perkins sent a wrist shot just wide of the post.

The Beavers sealed the game with ten minutes left as Gracie Foss fed a pass to Bessey who beat out the oncoming Goddard looking to cut the angle, giving UMaine-Farmington the 2-0 victory.

Goddard had six saves in net for the Eagles, while Katelyn Rouleau never saw a shot on frame, but her teammate Lydia Wasina made a defensive save for the Beavers to help hold onto her shutout.

The Eagles finish their three-game road trip on Thursday, October 17th as they travel to Howard F. Ryan Field to take on #4 Bowdoin for a 7:00 p.m. game.
